All Australian Recruiting Group staff are encouraged to
achieve extraordinary outcomes. This is accomplished
through a variety of means and OH&S plays a key role in
our delivery. We strive to provide an office
environment which minimizes hazardous conditions such as
chemicals, heavy machinery or power sources. Our pro
active approach to the prevention of staff injury and
illness ensures our continued success and therefore the
success of our valued clients. Therefore, we urge our
staff to suggest ways of improving their workplace
safety.
Australian Recruiting Group is pro active in ensuring that any
injury or illness related threat is immediately managed
by the officers of the company. Studies have shown that
recuperating employees who are given a light workload
and allowed to interact with their workmates often have
a far quicker and better recovery than otherwise.
During recuperation, Australian Recruiting Group provides
office computer connectivity to the homes of staff.
Those staff who might have some temporary illness or
injury but are willing to work are able to continue to
be employed and fulfilled in their work rather than
being bored at home or losing touch with their workmates
and clients. We make a great effort to return staff to
work as soon as practicable even if a full recovery has
not been completed. This strategy invariably leads to
greater cooperation, better morale, and greater
productivity.
At Australian Recruiting Group health and safety management is
the province not just of the officers of Australian
Recruiting but also that of every single staff member.
We ensure that individuals, teams and organisations
within Australian Recruiting Group maintain OH&S standards and
make an effort to support the health and safety of all
of our staff. The layout and structure of our office
environment is a key element of our OH&S policy and
appropriate office design values are constantly being
incorporated into our workplace.
Australian Recruiting Group is aware of its compliance
requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety
Act 2000, its subordinate regulations and codes of
practice, including the regulations for:
- Manual handling.
- Plant safety.
- Confined spaces.
- Noise.
We continue to work closely with clients who have
special OH&S requirements at particular sites. In
conjunction with our clients, Australian Recruiting Group
ensures that specific client OH&S processes and
procedures are adhered to through co-developed induction
courses and documentation. In addition, project specific
OH&S risks are considered and our policies and
procedures are adopted as the situation requires.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Your Guide to Workplace Health and Safety
Safety at work is both an individual and shared
responsibility. You must ensure that your assignments
are performed safely, without risk to yourself or your
colleagues. You must ensure that prior to any
tasks being undertaken, you have completed a risk
assessment with your manager. A copy of the risk
assessment is to be provided to Australian Recruiting Group.
Australian Recruiting Group will endeavour to provide you
with assignments that you are capable of efficiently and
safely carrying out. But, as we can't directly control
the workplace of our Australian Recruiting Group Temps, it
makes sense for you to remember the following safety
precautions while on assignment:
- Become familiar with your host employer's
workplace health and safety procedures. To do so is
important irrespective of whether or not your
assignment involves the operation of equipment.
- Ask questions when you are not familiar with any
aspect of the workplace environment.
- Make sure you understand all instructions before
commencing work, particularly using equipment with
which you are not familiar.
- Be alert for any hazardous conditions or
practices. Notify a supervisor of potentially
hazardous situations. Most office accidents result
from slips, trips and falls, lifting objects,
punctures or cuts, and being caught in or between
things.
- If you are asked to perform a task that seems
unsafe, or you are asked to perform work which was
not part of your initial job description, call
Australian Recruiting Group immediately.
- Reduce muscular effort, back and eye strain by
positioning computer monitors at the correct height
and viewing distance and adopting a comfortable
working posture. Short breaks and gentle stretching
exercises are most effective in relieving the strain
associated with keyboard work.
- If the assignment involves lifting, protect your
back. Think before you lift. Remember to lift from
the knees with a straight back.
- Co-operate with your host employer regarding
workplace health and safety issues and follow
prescribed procedures to the best of your ability.
- If you are injured while on assignment, notify
Australian Recruiting Group immediately. Workers
compensation may not be recovered if you have left
the assignment during which the injury occurred and
you have not notified Australian Recruiting Group of the
injury.
If you think a claim for workers compensation may be
required, please notify us in writing within six months
of the injury occurring and attach any medical
certificates or other documents supporting the claim.
Though it is Australian Recruiting Group policy that each
employee be provided with a safe and healthy place in
which to work, the success of a Health and Safety
program ultimately rests on the willingness of everyone
to cooperate and work collectively with a team spirit.
We ask you to be professional and have a positive
attitude towards OH&S issues.
